Dixième époside de cette série de 10 épisodes consacrée aux concerts des nocturnes des RMLL2010 : Spécial NiCad
NiCad began in 2004 when five young foreign students met each other in The Hague, Holland. With members coming from Japan, Israel, Chili, U.S.A and Germany, this group quickly picked up their own unique style. Within one month of their first show, they performed in front of 175,000 people at the music festival, ParkPop, which then placed them in limelight of their local scene.
As VPRO 3Voor12 says, “Each of the band-members stands for everything that live music should be. It’s the performance that shows that this group produces music straight from the heart.“ Their self-built instruments blend together with vocals, guitars, keyboards, and drums to create a passion driven show that keeps you on the edge of your seat, hoping for more. The sound is a bit like what would probably happen if Faith No More covered a song by Beck and asked Radiohead to do the instrumentation.
Since NiCad’s first album, “everyday I grow“, was release in 2006 they have played in venues, festivals, and on radio stations throughout the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and also Israel. Currently, they are on a return tour in Israel and are preparing for the finals of the Grote Prijs Zuid Holland this April 4th. In late April, they will begin their tour of Germany and France, and then return to to their home, The Netherlands, to release their next EP, “The Hill”. For the spring and summer, NiCad is preparing for another tour which will include Belgium and England.
NiCad describes the sound of The Hill as following : “The songs are a bit like what what happen if Pink Floyd joined the Pixies to cover a song by Bob Dylan. Somewhere in the midst lays NiCad’s "The Hill.".
